Wadajir is a community‑driven non‑profit organisation founded in Galmudug State, Somalia, after local residents witnessed the rapid deterioration of roads, and other public infrastructure. Unlike many post‑conflict initiatives that focus exclusively on state‑building, Wadajir channels the energy of citizens, local authorities and diaspora partners into one clear objective: to rebuild and maintain the infrastructure that holds communities together.

Other Programs

While the Dhusamareeb–Mataban road is Wadajir’s flagship project, the organisation supports a range of complementary initiatives, including:

Improving feeder roads in Dhuusamareeb and Guriceel to reduce congestion and improve pedestrian safety.

Constructing community parks and recreational areas that promote social cohesion and provide safe spaces for youth and families.

Implementing small‑scale water supply and waste management systems along road corridors to reduce environmental degradation and improve public health.

Resilient design

Heavy rains are common in Galgaduud and Hiran regions; meteorological data show that Dhuusamareeb and nearby areas

Local capacity building

Wadajir recruits and trains local labourers, engineers and administrators, creating jobs while transferring valuable skills

Environmental safeguards

Projects undergo rigorous assessments to minimise negative impacts on land, water and livelihoods.

Transparent management

Regular progress reports, financial statements and impact evaluations are shared with communities and donors.
