Wadajir is Nonprofit
Organization For Helping Communities
Wadajir is a community‑driven non‑profit organisation founded in Galmudug State, Somalia, after local residents witnessed the rapid deterioration of roads, and other public infrastructure. Unlike many post‑conflict initiatives that focus exclusively on state‑building, Wadajir channels the energy of citizens, local authorities and diaspora partners into one clear objective: to rebuild and maintain the infrastructure that holds communities together. The organisation’s flagship endeavour is the Dhusamareeb–Mataban Road Project, an initiative to construct a 105‑kilometre all‑weather road linking the regional capital, Dhuusamareeb, with the town of Mataban in neighbouring Hiran Region. This corridor is currently a narrow old unrehabilitated road; during the rainy season it is rendered treacherous or impassable by heavy rainfall and flooding, cutting off communities from markets, health centres and humanitarian assistance. By transforming this track into a resilient road, Wadajir aims to restore connectivity, spur economic growth and foster greater social cohesion across central Somalia.
To build resilient, inclusive and sustainable infrastructure that meets the needs of local communities. Wadajir pursues its mission through collaborative planning, innovative engineering and a deep commitment to improving quality of life. Every project is designed to enhance access to resources, expand economic opportunity and promote long‑term stability for underserved populations.
Wadajir envisions a future in which Somali communities design, construct and maintain the infrastructure they rely on. The organisation seeks to be a catalyst for community‑driven development, empowering people to take charge of their own future and create lasting change. Through improved roads and public works, Wadajir believes that local economies will flourish, social ties will strengthen and the wider region will prosper.
